Arch 653 Midterm (Allianz Arena)
ALLIANZ ARENA by Herzog & de Meuron
This midterm project aimed to recreate an existing project and develop it into a parametric model. I chose to do the Allianz Arena, primarily a soccer stadium and the home of Bayern Munich in Munich, Germany. The world-renowned architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron designed the stadium. This stadium was designed for the German soccer team, Bayern Munich. It started in competitions in 2001-02 and the design and completion took from 2002 until 2005. In 2005, it was completed and opened to hold games in the new stadium.
After completing this project, I have discovered that parametric modeling in Revit is not as intuitive as it could be. However, it has many elements that can be adjusted to do what I need it to do. It was difficult to generate parameters that the software agreed with and allowed, even if I thought it was a simple request for the software to perform.
AI Image Generation:
I used ChatGPT to create different design iterations for further design when creating the facade panels. The first iteration was a different panel design with the same dimensions as the existing paneling. The last image shows several organically flowing geometric patterns of paneling.
